Why was a separate database implemented?

The ERP system implemented within the company did not handle repair management. Numerous transfers of production lines from Western Europe and the company’s restructuring placed an additional burden on the maintenance department. The new owner demanded permanent reports on works in progress. Similarly, the implementation of the controlling module for the ERP system created demand for additional data, which, to a large extent, provided additional work for the maintenance department.

It became necessary to find a solution which would allow for the work of the department to be better documented, simplifying and speeding up the process of reporting failures, so that repair work could be started, as well as automatising the reporting process.
